Jobs/Roles in the ECE Community: Internationally

I took the time to visit each of the international organizations website shared in this week’s blog, and the three that was appealing to me was the following:

  1. United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). I have always heard the media mentioned UNICEF, but I never took the time to actually learn about the organization. UNICEF is an organization that is worldwide and is full of success it’s been in children environment for over fifth nine years and over one hundred eighty-nine regions.UNICEF works in 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfil their potential, from early childhood through adolescence. I think their work in amazing and you can really tell each person involved  has a passion to help others in need.

I would like to apply for the following position through UNICEF :Consultancy – Training of Ethical Guidelines of Representing Children in Media,  I will need the skills to communicate with others partners while building relationships while doing joint work of Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran with UNICEF. I would need a Bachelors degree in Social work  or Human Relations.

2.  Save the Children was the second international organization that was appealing to me. This is a nonprofit organization that works to help families and communities keep children safe from injuries (Safe Kids Worldwide, 2018). Once I read what this  organization main purpose was I was very interesting in learning more. There motto is “Transforming Lives and Futures”. This organizations has several positions available. I love to apply for the position as a Teacher in Alexandra, Louisiana. The job requirements are as follows:

Minimum of an Associate or Baccalaureate degree in child development or early childhood education or a related degree with early childhood equivalent coursework.

· Experience working with preschool-age children.

· Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills; great problem solving and time management skills. Ability to follow directions and take initiative.

· Ability to work collaboratively with Assistant Teacher, other staff, parents and community partners in the provision of high quality services to children and families.

3. United Nations, Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization is the third organization which was appealing to me. I have never heard of this organization, but I am glad I took the time to learn more about it.  UNESCO works to create the conditions for dialogue among civilizations, cultures and peoples, based upon respect for commonly shared values. UNESCO’s mission is to contribute to the building of peace, the eradication of poverty, sustainable development and intercultural dialogue through education, the sciences, culture, communication and information. The Organization focuses, in particular, on two global priorities: Africa and Gender equality.

The job opportunities available for this  organization  that sparks my interest includes the following: engineer, program assistant and program specialist.  Each job requires:

Education
Completed secondary, technical and/or vocational education.
Work Experience

A minimum of three years work experience in administrative and/or secretarial tasks.
Experience in administrative support at national and/or international levels.
Skills and competencies

Excellent coordination skills.
Excellent drafting skills in English and/or French.
Discretion, initiative and service oriented to provide quality and timely support and services.
Good interpersonal skills, including ability to draft correspondence and correct documents.
Excellent IT skills with proficiency in the use of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel. PowerPoint, etc.),
Ability to identify and negotiate best conditions for travel.
